the traits that describe Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani (17), an environmental
activist. The teenager from Gresik, East Java, has even had the courage to send
a letter to President Prabowo Subianto urging Indonesia to limit plastic
production. Aeshnina is one of the recipients of the IDN Times Youth Climate
Warriors 2025 award, presented during the Semarak Awal Tahun 2025 event. A
total of 10 recipients were honored with the IDN Times Youth Climate Warriors
2025 award.
Aeshnina shared on her social media that she sent the letter to President
Prabowo through the Perning Branch Post Office in Jetis District, Mojokerto
Regency, East Java.
"Yesterday, January 10, Friday, I sent a letter to President Prabowo
because Indonesia is facing a serious plastic waste crisis," wrote
Aeshnina, as quoted on Sunday (January 12, 2025).

Says Microplastics Contaminate All Aspects of Life
Aeshnina explained that microplastics are contaminating all aspects, from air and water to the human body, including blood and placenta.
"As a young person, I feel scared seeing the worsening environmental future of Indonesia. We need to start acting now and not delay addressing this crisis," she said.
2. Hopes
President Prabowo Will Read Her Letter
Aeshnina hopes that President Prabowo will read and respond to her letter. She
also hopes that Indonesia will take steps to limit plastic production.
"Through this letter, I hope that Mr. Prabowo Subianto reads it and
responds by limiting plastic production, protecting the youth, and prioritizing
the environment," she said.

Indonesia to Be Cleaner
Furthermore, Aeshnina hopes that Indonesia will become cleaner from plastic
waste pollution, so the country's future can be better and cleaner. "This
is not just about the present, but also about Indonesia’s future, which should
be cleaner, healthier, and livable for future generations," she added.
